Sneakers and workwear have always been a tricky combination, those gleaming Air Max 95s cancelling out the all-important utility vibes given off by your head-to-toe blue twill situation. One of the few brands to get this combination right are the folk at Universal Works who have always styled their functional combinations with both smart and sporty footwear. It can be done given the right pair of trainers and Universal Works proves the point with its latest release. Following on from its recent collection with Walsh, the brand team up with Saucony Originals. “Our contemporary clothing draws inspiration from a mix of traditional, blue collar workwear, tailoring associated with white collar work and the detailing and shapes of classic sportswear. Working with Saucony…has enabled us to translate these influences into two sneakers we love.” The Saucony Shadow will be available in two colours, navy and stone, both finished with a white mid-sole and Universal Works’ signature “blue argon” applied to the heel cup.
